Since starting my creative reinvention, I’ve been surprised at how many times I’ve craved pancakes. My mornings usually consist of Greek yogurt or cottage cheese and pineapple with a protein chocolate milk—something sensible and high in protein. But I treated myself to The Original Pancake House on a whim this week.
I’m going to try to give in to my whims more often. I believe following your whims activates the muscle responsible for following your dreams and being creative.
When was the last time you followed a whim? What did you do?
From Walker to Pickler
After months and months of walking by the pickleball courts near my house on my morning walks and seeing some of the same people showing up there, I finally got up the courage to step out of my comfort zone and check it out. I wanted to see if there was a league or something I could join. Luckily, the first person I talked to was one of the ring leaders, and I found out it’s an informal group that meets and plays between 6 am and 9 am every day of the week. I’ve met several people and played more games this week than in the past few years. My heart rate gets up in the 140s and 150s, which I never get up to by walking, and only sometimes get up to while lifting. The level of play is fantastic, so I’m sure I’ll learn a lot and become a better pickler.
Guilty Pleasure
If you like gritty mob boss/drug lord/crime family shows, there’s an Italian TV series called Gomorrah on HBO Max. I finished Season 3 last night. Question: Do you turn on English overdub audio or read English subtitles? (My answer: I never switch to English audio. I prefer to listen to the native language and read English subtitles.)
Quote to Ponder
Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so that they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then, do what you need to do, in order to have what you want.

On Repeat
We’re so lucky to be here,
Kyle
p.s. Another step outside my comfort zone this week: I joined Jason Steed’s Improv 80s live stream (in the background), adding some wind (at the end of “Ride Like the Wind” by Christopher Cross), organ (to a Howard Jones and a Cure song), and strings (to Simple Minds’s song “Don’t You Forget About Me”).
Kyle, you are moving right along with so many good things! Good for you.💜
